Reflexology

Foot reflexology is a manual therapy that uses targeted pressure to stimulate reflex zones on the foot, conventionally associated with different parts of the body, to promote overall relaxation and help you release stress-related tension. Laura Meijere offers private sessions in Geneva at the Centre Aliotis, as well as in Zurich, as a therapist accredited by the ASCA Foundation, the Swiss organization for complementary medicine under the supervision of the Swiss Confederation. More than just a relaxing massage, it's a time for recovery, complementing, not replacing, medical treatment.

What is foot reflexology?
Reflexology is based on the stimulation, through precise pressure, of reflex zones located on the feet, and sometimes on the hands and ears. The touch is firm and targeted, far removed from a simple relaxation massage.
The goal is to induce a total relaxation of the body and mind.
Reflexology is part of a wellness approach: it supports the management of stress and tension, without replacing a medical diagnosis or treatment.
Reflexology or classic massage, what's the difference?
A traditional massage primarily aims to relax muscles through tissue kneading. Reflexology, on the other hand, applies pressure to specific points on the foot with the goal of promoting overall relaxation. Both provide relaxation, but their approaches and intentions differ.
The benefits of reflexology
Reflexology is first and foremost a practice of deep relaxation. People who practice it regularly most often report:
Reduced tension and stress
Improved circulation and digestive function
Strengthened immune system
Supports the elimination of toxins
Promoted emotional and energy balance

Frequently asked questions about reflexology sessions
Are there any contraindications?
Yes, certain situations require caution or medical advice: early pregnancy, phlebitis, acute infectious diseases, sprains or foot injuries.
What is the difference between foot reflexology and a classic massage?
Reflexology is not a simple comfort massage. It works deeply on specific points to stimulate the body's natural functions, while providing overall relaxation
How does a session unfold?
After an initial exchange, you settle in comfortably. The treatment lasts approximately 45 to 60 minutes and is performed on the feet, with a firm, precise, and respectful touch.
How many sessions are needed to feel the effects?
Two sessions per week allow you to quickly feel the first effects. Regular practice (even once a week) provides lasting results.
Does reflexology replace medical treatment?
No. It is complementary, but in no way replaces medical care. If in doubt, it is always advisable to consult your doctor.
