Therapeutic yoga in Geneva and Zurich, ASCA accredited, private sessions

Therapeutic yoga is an individualized practice: rather than a sequence imposed on an entire group, it adapts the postures (asanas) and conscious breathing to your body, to soothe targeted tensions and calm the nervous system. Laura Meijere offers private sessions in Geneva, at the Aliotis Center, as well as in Zurich, as a therapist accredited by the ASCA Foundation, the Swiss organization for complementary medicine under the supervision of the Confederation. Each session is tailored to your level, from beginner to advanced practitioner. This is a wellness practice, complementary to, not a replacement for, medical treatment.

Therapeutic yoga or classical yoga: what's the difference?

A traditional yoga class follows a sequence common to all participants. Therapeutic yoga, sometimes called yoga therapy, takes the opposite approach: each posture is chosen for your specific physical condition. This personalization makes it closer to a gentle healing approach, whereas a group class primarily focuses on general practice.

A method focused on alignment and anchoring

This practice emphasizes spinal alignment and grounding. This precise positioning stabilizes the joints and engages the deep core muscles, helping to prevent back pain and maintain posture over time. To further enhance core strength, this practice combines well with Pilates , which refines movement control.

A private lesson for beginners as well as for those looking to progress

In individual sessions, I correct your posture in real time and adjust the effort according to your day, which secures the first steps and refines the practice of more experienced individuals. You have the entire session time to yourself, without the average pace of a group.

The benefits of yoga

Breath acts as a lever: breathing techniques and guided meditation affect the nervous system and lower tension levels. Regular practice helps to:

Reduce daily stress and anxiety.

Gain flexibility and correct posture

Get back to more restful sleep

Support concentration and refocusing

If emotional tension or exhaustion persists despite physical activity, an energetic approach via reiki can help dissolve underlying blockages and promote a deeper sense of release.

Frequently asked questions about yoga classes

How does a session unfold?

Each session begins with an introduction and a short meditation. We then move through various postures, followed by a relaxation phase. The aim is to create a space of calm and connection.

At what age should I start?

Yoga is accessible to everyone, regardless of age. Children, adults, and seniors can all benefit. It is recommended to start as soon as you feel the urge.

Are there any risks?

As with any physical activity, it's important to practice safely. Listen to your body and avoid pushing yourself too hard. If you have any medical conditions, consult a professional before starting.

Do you need to be flexible to begin with?

Flexibility is not a prerequisite for practicing yoga. Everyone progresses at their own pace, and yoga helps improve flexibility over time. The key is to be open to learning.

What type of yoga is recommended for beginners?

Hatha Yoga is ideal for beginners. During our private sessions in Geneva and Zurich, we take the time to break down each posture to ensure a safe practice adapted to your level, away from the pressure of group classes.
