Reflexology

Foot reflexology is a manual practice that stimulates, through targeted pressure, reflex zones of the foot conventionally associated with the different parts of the body, in order to foster overall calm and help you release stress-related tension. Laura Meijere welcomes you for private sessions in Geneva, at the Centre Aliotis, and in Zurich, as a therapist accredited by the ASCA Foundation, the Swiss organisation for complementary medicine placed under the supervision of the Confederation. More than a comfort massage, it is a time for recovery, as a complement to and not a replacement for medical care.

What is foot reflexology?
Reflexology rests on stimulating, through precise pressure, reflex zones located on the feet, and sometimes on the hands and ears. The touch is firm and targeted, far from a simple relaxation massage. The aim is to bring about an overall release in body and mind.
Reflexology is part of a wellbeing approach: it supports the management of stress and tension, without substituting for a medical diagnosis or treatment.
Reflexology or classic massage, what is the difference?
A classic massage aims mainly at muscular relaxation through the kneading of tissues. Reflexology, for its part, applies pressure to precise points on the foot with a view to overall release. Both provide relaxation, but the approach and the intention differ.
The benefits of reflexology
Reflexology is above all a practice of deep relaxation. People who practise it regularly most often report that it:
Reduced tension and stress
Improved circulation and digestive function
Strengthened immune system
Supports the elimination of toxins
Fosters emotional and energetic balance

Frequently asked questions about reflexology sessions
Are there any contraindications?
Yes, certain situations call for caution or medical advice: early pregnancy, phlebitis, acute infectious illnesses, sprains or injuries to the feet.
What is the difference between foot reflexology and a classic massage?
Reflexology is not a simple comfort massage. It works deeply on precise points to stimulate the body's natural functions, while providing overall relaxation.
How does a session unfold?
After a time for discussion, you settle in comfortably. The treatment lasts around 45 to 60 minutes and is carried out on the feet, with a firm, precise and respectful touch.
How many sessions are needed to feel the effects?
Two sessions a week let you feel the first effects quickly. A regular practice (even once a week) brings lasting results.
Does reflexology replace medical treatment?
No. It is complementary, but in no way replaces medical care. In case of doubt, it is always advisable to seek your doctor's opinion.
